Experiential learning in schools

Experiential Learning in schools is freehand learning experience through self doing and active participation. It involves learning through creative arts, music, organised games, playful methods, going to field trips etc. This kind of self-exploration is nothing but self-discovery and self-awareness for children.  The trial and error method develops logical thinking and aims at continuous improvement in eye-hand coordination and observation skills. The children are assigned such tasks in school which are outside traditional classroom settings.    Experiential learning in schools  The process  involves the following steps: Mentors asking kids how to do a particular task or how to improve upon the tasks already done. This wakes up the thought process of children. They build their own concepts and strategy and implement them to the task in hand. In such learning, the kids experience both success and failure alike because the challenges are immense. They think aloud if trapp

How best playschools/preschools are second home to children?

Christmas is the festival of love and hope. As Christmas is approaching my two-year-old pre-schooler demanded “mamma Santa cap”. I hugged her and asked, "dear how do you know Santa". She put her little right hand on the mouth 😲 as if asking me "Don't you know Santa “I had no words but smiled and understood "it’s all playschool celebrations". Playschool learning What are playschools/preschools ? Playschools synonymously known as preschools are turning into a second home for toddlers. They are learning platforms for them outside the home and play a crucial role in bringing fore the hidden talents in little Santas.  What are the yardsticks for the best playschools for children? A good preschool is a pre-preparatory institution for formal schools which focuses on cultivating the best in the child. Therefore, parents must be observant and careful while choosing playschool for their toddlers. In my opinion, a successful playschool is the one where a child

Tips for good parenting

Tips for good parenting A couple of days back I read the news of Delhi NCR where a teenage boy killed his family members in a fit of rage because he was scolded and beaten up at home. It shooked me. As a responsible parent, I paused for a moment and thought about his psyche, the reason for this behavioural abnormality.  Who is responsible for such acts?  Are parents able to communicate effectively to kids? Why is there a feeling of taking revenge from elders instead of understanding the message they want to convey? What is the reason of growing impatience in elders as well as teenagers? Many questions ......I started to pen down my thoughts and realized that as a parent sometimes we do not think before speaking to kids. The words have a deep-rooted impact on children. Out of the habit of many parents, it is not rare to say "Can't you sit quietly for some time. Do not irritate me."Later on, realizing our mistake we feel sorry for our kids but by then the words had

Why UX matters in kid's playarea?

Hey, hey, oh playmate,                    Come out and play with me                    And bring your dollies three                    Climb up my apple tree                    Slide down my rain barrel                    Into my cellar door                    And we'll be jolly friend                    Forever more, more, more These are the lines of an old rhyme which hover around my mind when I go down memory lane.  I recall my friends and time spent with them in by lanes, on muddy areas, over a roof top……engrossed in activities away from worldly hustle bustles. Sometimes we used to roam around in park here and there always specifying our own play area for the day. Every day there was a new play zone and every place was meant for playing. There was no such buzzword as“designated” play area for kids.  With the turn of the century, the need for a specific play area evolved,  space meant only for kids structured with their ideas, imagination and

Something out of nothing

Something out of nothing As a mother of two creative kids, I always observe them meticulously and try to be part of their musical gig be it games, crafts, drawing or creating lyrics. Yesterday my elder kiddo started singing his own lyrics to which my younger one added hip hop. The meaningless words turned into a musical composition.Haha......it was impressive. The next turn was of mommy......I bit my finger and then raised my hand to recite one of my poems  " Affection "' published in 1995.....it goes like this:  Stitched in nine a meadow burning in glory pioneer in pine  stretching arm for a crony one who receives must blanket  or you escape in others heart precious to be preserved in a casket ere on an urn in the music of art the dispensation must be at intervals 'cause though you are vast as the sea the precinct in the inner well that which unlocked through an influential key your presence burgeons life, and you are house
